The political Journalists Association of Kenya has called on the key players in the 2022 elections, including politicians and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to secure the place of political journalists in this election, insisting they remain apolitical. This message comes at the backdrop of sustained attacks on journalists in the line of duty. According to the association’s chairperson Kennedy Murithi, the prevailing political atmosphere that allows politicians and journalists to co-exist peacefully should continue and thus none of the entities should harras the other. Consequently, political journalists have been urged to uphold high levels of professionalism.
